Organizing sets with folders

Last Updated: Apr 23, 2019 07:13PM PDT

Stay organized on Quizlet by creating folders for the different subjects you're studying. Teachers and students of any age can create folders!

To get started, select Create a folder on the left sidebar of your logged-in homepage.

Enter a title (you can also add an optional description) and select Create folder

Folders you create will be visible to others on your Quizlet profile unless all of the sets you add are private.

Adding sets to your folder

The quickest way to add sets to a folder is from your folder page. To add sets, select Add a set.

You can choose to add sets to your folder from your created or studied sets or your classes from the dropdown menu. To add a set, select plus next to the title. Sets that you've already added will have a minus sign highlighted in yellow. Select minus to remove the set from your folder.

To add multiple sets to your folder at once, select plus next to the title of each set you want to add. To remove multiple sets at once, select minus next to the title of each set you want to remove.

Editing and sharing folders

To edit a folder's title or description, open the More menu (represented by three dots) and select Edit. To share a folder, select the Share icon.

Anyone you share a folder with can bookmark it from their own account to access it easily from their logged-in homepage. If you delete a folder, it will be removed from any accounts where it was bookmarked.

To bookmark a folder created by another user, go to the folder page and open the More menu. Then, select Bookmark. The folder you bookmarked will then show up on the left sidebar of your logged-in homepage with the rest of your folders.

Studying a folder

You can study all of the sets in a folder at once by selecting Study a folder at the top of any folder page.

Can I add folders to my classes or create sub-folders?
Quizlet doesn't offer a way to do this right now, but it is something we're considering for the future — as we definitely want to make it easier to organize the growing amount of sets, folders and classes our users have to manage!

Why can't I study this folder?

Large folders (2000 terms/definitions or more) are only supported on Quizlet in Long-Term Learning mode (available to Quizlet Plus and Quizlet Teacher users).  Quizlet offers free trials of all of our upgrades to eligible users.
