Playing Match

Last Updated: Nov 02, 2017 01:45PM PDT

Race against the clock the match your terms and definitions as quickly as possible — and compete with your classmates for the top score!

Starting and playing a game

After you select Match, you'll see a pop-up with a Start game button. Match shows six pairs per game, so if you're studying a larger set you'll need to play several games in order to review all of your material.

As soon as you select the button, the clock starts — so be sure to start dragging terms to their matching definitions right away. And be careful, as Quizlet adds one second to your time for each incorrect match!

When you've matched all of your pairs, Quizlet records your score and shows you your position on the leaderboard.

Match vs. Micromatch

Quizlet users on our iOS or Android apps might have noticed that Match on the apps works differently than Match on the Quizlet website. If you prefer the mobile version of Match, where you match terms and definitions by tapping on tiles instead of dragging and dropping them, you can change the URL in your browser to end in "micromatch" instead of "match."

Once you start a Micromatch game, you'll see your terms and definitions in a 3x4 grid. To match pairs, select (or tap, if you're on a mobile or touchscreen device) pairs of tiles to make them disappear. If you or your students access the Quizlet website from a touchscreen device, like an iPad or a Microsoft Surface, you'll always see Micromatch instead of Match.
